Golf outing turns 30

The annual Friends of Manchester Golf Outing is not just about birdies, bogeys and reconnecting with your Manchester University roots. It’s about giving back.

And in 2019, it’s about milestones, too!

When the golf outing kicks off next June 11 at Bridgewater Golf Club in Auburn, it will be the 30th year for the annual event. And it will celebrate a tradition that has contributed mightily to the University’s athletic legacy, providing MU student-athletes with new uniforms, batting cages, track and field equipment, improvements to Stauffer-Wolfe Arena and much more.

Begun in 1990 by three Manchester College alumni – Ken Metzger ’67 and Til ’47 and Dortha Martz ’47 King – the event, which includes 18 holes of golf, a social hour and awards dinner, passed the $1 million mark in athletic department donations in 2009 and raised in the neighborhood of $29,000 last year from 53 donors.

Be a part of the 30th celebration of this wonderful Manchester tradition. For more information, contact athletic director Rick Espeset at 260-982-5390 or rbespeset@manchester.edu
