Students on the North Manchester campus returned this fall to a new building, the Lockie and Augustus Chinworth Center. The two-story building is attached to the north side of the Jo Young Switzer Center and houses the Arthur L. Gilbert College of Business on the second floor and a range of student services office on the first floor.
The 36,000-square-foot facility is made possible by a gift of more than $5 million from Herb Chinworth ’42c and is named in honor of his parents.
Manchester will dedicate the new building on Oct. 11, Homecoming weekend.
The University also invested $4.8 million over the summer in its oldest residence halls – East, Garver and Schwalm – to upgrade Wi-Fi, safety features, bathrooms, exterior lighting and furnishings.
It is actively raising funds for a new stadium to provide all-weather surfaces for football, track and field, and a range of recreational activities. Naming opportunities include the stadium structure at $1,350,000, the artificial turf field at $500,000 and the Olympic-sized track at $250,000.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the stadium is planned for Homecoming Oct. 12.
