Fred Tackitt

Fred Tackitt Collection

Fred Tackitt was a student at Manchester College from 1964-66. He was an outstanding thespian, playing the lead in all productions directed by Tom Roland during those two years, as well as a musician, sketch artist, philosopher, writer of poetry and prose, and a dear friend to many. On November 12, 1966, he was killed in a single-car accident just outside town. The driver and two other passengers survived. Fred's death had a terrible impact on the community, as he was well-known for his incredible acting.

More than fifty-five years later, three Manchester alumni, Susan Storer Nordmann Ramirez '70, Karl Schrock '75, and David Deardorff '70, formed The Fred Tackitt Fan Club and put together this collection of writings, drawings, and photos from his Manchester performances to celebrate Fred's talents.
