  • Leatherberry wins award at mock trial

    Manchester University junior Briana Leatherberry scored a perfect 20 points to earn an Outstanding Attorney Award at the 2016 Hoosier Hoedown Invitational mock trial at Indiana University Jan. 23-24. The event took place at the Maurer School of Law on the IU campus in Bloomington. Leatherberry is a Hammond Morton High School alum.
  • McKenna-Buchanan wins award for journal article

    An article co-authored by Tim McKenna-Buchanan, assistant professor of communication studies, has been selected for the 2016 Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity Article of the Year award. “To Be or Not To Be Out in the Classroom: Exploring Communication Privacy Management Strategies of Lesbian, Gay, and Queer College Teachers,” was published in the Communication Education journal in 2015. The award is sponsored by the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Caucus of the Central States Communication Association and acknowledges the most outstanding scholarship published in a peer-reviewed journal during the previous calendar year.   • Grove to represent MU at national counseling competition

    Fourth-year pharmacy student Nicholas Grove will represent Manchester University at the National Patient Counseling Competition of the American Pharmacists Association—Academy of Student Pharmacists (AphA-ASP) March 4 through 7 in Baltimore.

    Grove finished first among 26 pharmacy students at MU’s chapter competition on Jan. 27. Other top finishers include P3 Kacie Knapp, first runner-up; P3 Trung Nguyen and P2 Anayo Ohiri, second runners-up; and the remaining top 10 of P3 Shaden Mahjoob, P3 Tung Nguyen, P3 Franklin Oparah, P4 Nikhil Patel, P3 Stephanee Schrader and P3 Andrea Whitaker.

     
  • Three MU students named 2016 Fellows of Greater Fort Wayne Inc.

    Three Manchester University students have been named to the 2016 Fellows Class of Greater Fort Wayne Inc. Tiana Maclin, a senior from Markleville, Ind., Jessica Small, a senior from Walkerton, Ind., and Sambo Amaza, a sophomore from Marshfield, Wis., are among the 19 college students in this year’s Fellows class. The student Fellows are attending monthly personal development workshops and on May 23 will begin 12-week paid summer internships. The project-based internships are designed to help fill the entry-level talent pipeline in northeast Indiana. Tiana, a marketing and management major, will work at Greater Fort Wayne Inc. while Jessica, a management major, and Sambo, an economics major, will work for Lincoln Financial Group.
     
  • Two MU students receive AHPERD scholarships

    Two Manchester students have been selected to receive the 2016 Jean Lee/Jeff Marvin Collegiate Scholarship from Indiana Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AHPERD).  Six $1,000 scholarships are awarded statewide and two of them were awarded to MU students: Adriana Brown ’17 (adapted physical education) and Jared Bourff ’18 (physical education/special education).  The scholarships are based on academic success, leadership and need. 
  • Martynowicz asked to present poster

    Mike Martynowicz, instructor of education, has had his poster, “Curvilinear Relationships Among Test Anxiety, Motivation, and Self-Regulation: Evidence for a Control Theory.” accepted for presentation at the Association for Psychological Science annual convention May 26-29, 2016, in Chicago.
