License plates help students explore valuable experiences
Have you ever wondered how the University uses the money it receives when you purchase an MU license plate?
The fees collected by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and returned to the University enable students to participate in activities that are outside the normal classroom experience. The funds can help a student pay for gasoline to get to an externship, or supplement expenses incurred with a summer internship or career exploration trip.
Students also have used the funds to visit potential employers in Fort Wayne and in Indianapolis. The visits allow students to explore career options, expose them to the professional environment, and provide them with numerous networking opportunities.
The funds are available to any Indiana student, with preference to juniors and seniors, as long as students contribute to the cost of the trip and interact with alumni along the way. The Alumni Relations and Career Services offices hope to continue this meaningful program and expand the visits to other cities.
If you would like to help students participate in these kinds of rich educational experiences, click here and start sporting an MU license plate on your vehicle!
