Howard Receives Multicultural Excellence Scholarship

Brianna Howard is the first student at Manchester University to receive the new full-ride Multicultural Excellence Scholarship. In order to receive this scholarship, she not only needed to have academic potential but also have leadership and motivational skills.
She is originally from Indianapolis, but moved to Brownsburg in middle school, where she eventually would attend Brownsburg High School. Her high school experience had a positive influence on her academics. “I went to an A- grade school, so of course they’re big on academics,” she said. “I’ve always been serious about my grades, so being in an ‘education first’ environment made things easier.”
This scholarship wasn’t unexpected for her. “I’ve been an honor roll student all my academic career,” she said. “I lettered my junior and senior year for academics and athletics. So when President Dave called me and told me the good news, I wasn’t at all surprised. I knew my interviews were good and I was confident in myself that I would get chosen.”
Howard is excited to accomplish new things while at Manchester University. Her goals are to become president of the Black Student Union and graduate Magna Cum Laude. While at Manchester, she hopes to promote even more diversity and inclusion at the university.
