When Heidi Ramer’s mother died in 2001, she left behind 15 years of journals detailing repeated sexual trauma and emotional torment from someone who had been a colleague. In a 1987 entry, Karen Doudt said that if she were to die, she wanted her story to be shared. As she read those journals, Ramer knew that it would be her honor to use her own voice and her mother’s words to do so.
The 1993 Manchester graduate and author will return Thursday, April 20 to share their story. The program is 7 p.m. in Petersime Chapel.

Manchester University will honor Fort Wayne City Council President Glynn A. Hines and retired Parkview Health CEO Michael J. Packnett at Commencement on Saturday, May 20. Each will receive an Honorary Doctor of Humanities. Packnett will be honored during health science graduate and professional commencement exercises at 9 a.m. and Hines at the undergraduate ceremony at 11 a.m.

Monica Ralston, Manchester Class of 2005, has been named the 2023 Remarkable Woman of Northeast Indiana by WANE 15.
She is director of Mary Raber Montessori School, which she helped create in Whitley County.

Manchester will offer women's wrestling as a varsity intercollegiate sport starting in the 2024-25 academic year, making it the 50th NCAA Division III women’s team in the nation.
“The time is right to launch a women’s wrestling program at Manchester University. Interest in girls wrestling in high school is exploding and we are seeing that in Indiana,” said Director of Athletics Rick Espeset.
“We want to be at the forefront of helping grow the sport, providing the student-athlete experience to even more of our students and offering women the chance to compete at the college level,” he said. “We could not be more excited to add women’s wrestling.”

Money raised goes to The Manchester Fund, which helps provide scholarships for students who might not otherwise be able to afford a Manchester education and addresses the University community’s day-to-day needs—from technology updates to travel expenses. The one-day goal is $200,000.
