PharmD/MS in PGx Dual Degree Program
Degree Requirements
This program will allow students to complete the PharmD degree as well as the Master in PGx degree within the same four year time frame as traditional PharmD students. It allows for overlap of some courses to fulfill both degrees as these two areas of expertise have natural overlap.
To earn the Doctor of Pharmacy degree, students must:
- Complete all required courses, and the required amount of elective courses, in the curriculum with a grade of C or better (or P);
- Complete all progression requirements;
- Pass all required competency assessments.
To earn the Master of Science in Pharmacogenomics degree, students must:
- Have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.00.
- Complete a total of 34 credit hours of course work (29 credit hours required and at least 5 credit hours elective) with a grade of “C” or better
In order for dual degree students to earn the Master of Science in Pharmacogenomics degree, students must have completed a bachelor’s or professional degree.

IPPE: | Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences have 2 weeks (80 hours) of rotation time between Fall and Spring semesters. IPPE I is followed by 4 hours of rotation and 1 hour of reflective class time per week during Spring Semester.
The introductory pharmacy practice experience service (IPPE Service) course will be offered throughout the professional years in the pharmacy program (P1-P4). This service component is required as a portion of IPPE hours and will help students meet overall program outcomes. The hours designated for each year constitute a progression requirement that must be completed prior to advancement to the next year of the academic program.
