Library Instruction
Library instruction can include an introduction to resources in a certain discipline, in-depth search strategies for peer-reviewed sources, evaluation of information, plagiarism and citation style activities, etc. Our goal is to customize instruction material to fit the needs of your research assignment and desired student learning outcomes, delivering that information at the point of need. We will ask that you share your assignments and goals with us as we develop your session.
When
Advance requests are appreciated due to the careful planning of session material. We also welcome the opportunity to offer multiple sessions for more in-depth instruction - especially if assignments are broken up into separate parts.
Who
Your College liaison will be the first point of contact for instruction. When unavailable, we will do our best to find a library faculty colleague for the requested date and time.
Where
Library instruction sessions are generally scheduled in a computer lab on campus in either ACEN lab or the lower level library lab. Lab requests are submitted by the College library liaison to the Office of the Registrar. Once lab space is established, a location confirmation e-mail will be sent your way. In some cases, it may be possible to conduct the session in your classroom location as well. Additionally, librarians are available to provide on-going research assistance within your online course environment. If you're interested in that type of embedded support, please contact your College library liaison directly.
