Neher, O. W. Collection: Mount Morris College | MC2011/210 | O. W. Neher served as Acting President at Mount Morris College following the presidency of Professor W. W. Peters and prior to that of C. Ernest Davies. His dates at Mount Morris spanned from 1924-1932. When a fire forced Mount Morris to close its doors and merge with Manchester College, Neher came to Manchester and taught Biology from 1932-1954. For additional material regarding O. W. He was a professor at Manchester College, husband, father and farmer, public speaker, pastor and minister of the First Brethren Church in North Manchester, Indiana, candidate for Congress in 1932 (Indiana) and a contendor in the 1936 race for Governor. The researcher can get a feel for Pre WWII Indiana and Indiana during war. Letters to soldiers are included as well as the names of men from North Manchester who were killed in the war. Topics include: Prohibition, economic recovery from the Great Depression, and the impact of Hitler 's Germany on Europe. Schutz was a contemporary with Andrew Cordier who participated in some of Schutz's political involvements. |

Blickenstaff, Missionaries, India: Church of the Brethren | COB General File: Missionaries | Photograph: Miss Blickenstaff and colleague in Mahableswa, India, in costumes. It is not known if Miss Blickenstaff is a tourist, a missionary or if she is the Mary Blickenstaff referred to in the Brethren Encyclopedia. The Brethren Encyclopedia writes of a Lynn (Mt. Morris Academy) and Mary Blickenstaff (La VerneCollege) as traveling to India in 1921 where Lynn Blickenstaff served as mission treasurer. In 1935 Lynn became the manager of the Intermission Business Office in Bombay. Mary assisted in administration, taught and hosted missionaries and visitors. In 1946 the Church World Service asked Lynn to direct relief work in India Their son, David Blickenstaff, was a 1937 Manchester College graduate. |
