Pharmacy Program Progress
Since its inception, the Manchester University Pharmacy Program has achieved significant milestones:
- Successful achievement of ACPE Candidate accreditation status in July 2013
- A move into a brand new 80,000-square-foot building in June 2012
- Enrollment of its inaugural Pharmacy class in August 2012
- Candidate status granted by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education in July 2013
Opportunities still exist for pharmacy faculty and staff to join this program as it develops.
Faculty Hiring
Manchester seeks additional faculty to continue the development of the professional curriculum. These professionals will support Manchester’s mission to improve the human condition by preparing graduates of ability and conviction to provide patient-centered care at individual, local and global levels; and by advancing pharmacy education, service, practice and scholarship. Pharmacy Practice Positions
Manchester’s philosophy is that faculty members in the Pharmacy Practice Department need to actually “practice pharmacy” to be effective teachers. All of the clinical pharmacists in the Pharmacy Practice Department have a practice site. This assures that students are learning practical, real-world material. Currently, faculty members practice at sites in both acute care (palliative care, infectious disease, critical care, emergency medicine, behavioral health) and ambulatory care (family practice clinic, and drug information).
