C.P.S. Unit 101 Registrar's Records along with a brief history and reference material describing the creation of CPS Camp 101 and its sub-camps, of which Manchester College was one. Cordier.  The sixty-seventy CPS'ers were chosen by Brethren Service Committee, and the plan was for them to leave the country and begin relief and rehabilitation work immediately after the program's completion.

Schutz was a professor at Manchester College, as well as a farmer, public speaker, pastor, candidate for Congress (Indiana,1932) and a contendor in the 1936 Governor's race. He was a Kiwanis Club official and Chairman of the Standard Life Insurance Company of Indiana. The collection describes Indiana before and during WWII.  Schutz corresponds with soldiers and provides names of North Manchester men killed in combat. Topics of import include; prohibition, economic recovery from the Great Depression, and Hitler's impact on Europe. Schutz was a contemporary of Andrew Cordier who participated in some of Schutz's political involvements.

Many drafts of presentations as well as completed speeches, articles, and sermons by Vernon Schwalm, including an address given in the fall of 1923 at Manchester College, the year the Academy was eliminated. Schwalm gives a brief history of the institution.

Some are related to the Church of the Brethren One letter of interest regards Mr. Max Pinney, Huntington, Indiana, who donated a charcoal drawing of Roanoke Classical Seminary (by the artist, Hansacre, of Chicago) to Manchester College.

Decades of correspondence between Vernon Schwalm and Andrew Cordier. Cordier gives detailed accounts of behind-the-scenes activity at the United Nations during the Cold War, and the reader can watch the situation in the Congo unfold.  Cordier's role in the Cuban missile Crisis is described to Schwalm as are events on the Columbia University campus during a period of student uprising in the the 1960's. Cordier is always in the thick of things and his descriptions of political figures and events are intriguing.

Ted Studebaker, MC Class of 1967, pacifist and conscientious objector who served as an agricultural worker during the Vietnam War and was executed by North Vietnamese in 1971.

Rev. Kiyoshi was a survivor of the bombing of Hiroshima and worked with victims of the bomb.  He raised funds for the Hiroshima Maidens project in which women, severly burned by the bomb, received constructive surgery. He also raised funds for a peace center in Hiroshima. His message was delivered on 11 October 1982.

One newsletter. There is not a title or exact date on this publication, but a caricature of President Richard Nixon and a list of recommended anti-Vietnam War deadlines for action in 1971 serve as a date in themselves.

Materials from the Office of the Vice President of Manchester College.

The Lemberg Center for the Study of Violence contains information on the race riots of the 1960s and originated at Brandeis University outside of Boston.  The archive was transferred to Manchester College on permanent loan in 1979, and was housed there until 1997, when it was transferred to the University of Notre Dame.

Dr. Franklin Wallin, President of Earlham College, give an address at the New Call to Peacemaking conference at Manchester College. In the address he talks about the paper and ideas behind the paper produced by the New Call to Peacemaking.

Dan West founded Heifer Project International.  He also was one of the first professors in Manchester's Peace Studies Institute.  This collection contains essays by Dan West, information about awards he received, and a biographical essay from the internet Biography Resource Center.

What appear to be President Otho Winger's files on Alcohol and Tobacco which he labeled "Peade and Temperance."  Some of the materials were addressed to Mrs. Oscar Winger, his brother's wife.

On the very back page are the words, "Peter Nead's Book of Universalism."  The book title is, "Notes on the Parables of the New Testament, by  Hosea Ballou, Pastor of the Universalist Church and Society in Portsmouth, N.H.....,"1812."

One program from the Peace Oratorical Contest, 14 June 1930.  The program includes speakers and the the titles of their presentations. It appears as if all of the Church of the Brethren institutions had a representative at the contest, except for LaVerne College.
