Manchester University mourns pharmacy student

The following  email was sent early Sept. 17 to the Manchester University community by President Dave McFadden:

Dear students, faculty, staff and friends,

Sue UpshawIt is with great sadness that I share the news that a tragic accident has claimed the life of Manchester University pharmacy student Sue Upshaw.

Sue was a P3 student, and her family members travelled from Arizona to be with her in her final hours.

Please hold all of the people who loved Sue in your thoughts and prayers. In the days ahead, we will support each other as we reflect on her time with us and provide comfort to each other as we process our grief.

Plans for a memorial service on the Fort Wayne campus are under way, and we will share details about that and her family’s plans, as soon as they are finalized.

University counselor Danette Till will be on the Fort Wayne Campus on Monday to provide counseling support to students. And a counselor from the Bowen Center will be on the Fort Wayne campus from 8-11 a.m. Monday to serve faculty and staff. We will ensure that counseling support is available for students, faculty and staff in the difficult days ahead.

We cannot begin to understand the loss of one of our own whose life was so full of promise. The MU community grieves her passing.

Dave
